Heard about St martin On The Street

3/13/2013 - By St Martin Reservation Center

Recent conversations with various sources in St Martin indicate that the dispute regarding the former Mullet Bay Resort on the Western shore of the island of St Martin is close to resolution.  It is also rumored that a major luxury hotel & resort chain is considering the purchase and delvelopment of this property.

The Mullet Bay resort was completely destroyed in a major hurricane and never recovered. There was a dispute between the developer of the resort and the individual proerty owners and the redevelopment has been in limbo for the last 17 years.

The redevelopment of this property, when implemented will have a major impact on the island.  We can ol=nly hope there will turn the golf course into a world class venue.

It has also been heard on the street that the SXM Airport is considering expansion with an additional runway.  This would allow for planes to taxi while others are landing. With the amount of air traffic, especially during peak travel periods this improvement will provide much need relief.

The causeway bridge in St Maarten that crosses the Simpson Bay Lagoon from airport road (at the end of the runway) to the road entering Marigot is rapidly nearing completion.  This new bridge will give much needed relief to those St Martin travelers arriving at Princess Julian Airport and nneding to get to the French side. This should also reduce the awfull traffic jams between the Airport and Simpson Bay.
