Mariposa is a delightful villa.
We are very happy to be back to St Martin. We fully expected to find a lot of destruction from Irma, however, the charm of the island remains the same, as do the people of St Martin. It is heartwarming to see the resolve and had-working spirit of the island people determined to rebuild this paradise.
Now that we have our beach chairs and cooler, our beach choices are not limited to those that offer beach services. Last Friday, we spent about three hours at Baie Aux Prunes. The beach was delightful, just as we remembered it being from past trips, and very private. There were only two other couples there. On Tuesday, we went to Baie Longue and walked to the end of the beach in front of La Samanna. The beach was as spectacular as it has always been on past trips, and we were totally alone the entire three hours that we were there! It was as if we were on our own private Caribbean island.
On Wednesday afternoon, we went back to Friar’s Bay. We were happy to see that Friar’s Bay Beach Cafe is now reopened, and the “King of the Beach” is back. There are now two beach cafes open on Friar’s Bay. Although there are still rocks on the beach, Friar’s Bay is still one of favorites. Today, we went back to Friar’s Bay and walked to Happy Bay. Looking seaward on Happy Bay, the sand and water are as beautiful as ever.
I enjoy cooking dinner at the villa. It is hard to find a restaurant with a better view and setting than we have at Mariposa. I have not had any difficulty finding a satisfactory selection of fresh foods to work with.
We so enjoy St Martin!
