Featured Restaurant Moulin Foo11/11/2012 - By Ted 
Last night we dined at Moulin Foo a well known French restaurant located in Maho Village in Dutch St Maarten. Our clients who renta vacation villa or condo accommodations in St Martin, often ask us if there are any good dining options on the Dutch side. The answer is absouletly yes!Moulin Foo is certainly at the top of our best of the best list. The atmosphere is wlhat you would expect from a fin dining experience in a Paris or NY restaurant. We saat inside and enjoyed a quiet fine dining experience. For those seeking more excitement there is out door seating under a covered terrace with music from Cherie's Cafe and restaurant next door. If you are not a smoker, you will want to pass on the outdoor seating. We arrived without a reservation as it was still low season (Nov), but during St Martin high season (Dec - Apr) you will want to make a reservation if you want to eat at the prime dinner hours, as this restaurant is in high demand. I can't say enough about the special I ordered which was a French Sea Bass with white butter sauce. It was flown in that very day on Air France from Paris. Absolutely fresh and served with rice and ratoulliy. A perfect presentation complemented with an Italian Pino Grigio. Yes, it was expensive at $45 + the wine, but very much worth it! The Sea Bass is a special offered only when in season from Oct - Jan. In other months there are different specials also flown in form France. Two other choices that are top sellers are the Grilled Beef Filet Minion With Fresh Sea Scallops in a Flambed Cognac Creamy Sauce. Another is the Wrapped Lamb Filet Mignon With Goat Cheese and Mushroom in a Filo Dough, Basil Brown Sauce. There is something for everyone on the menu. To my amazement this restauant has also received a top rating for its Sushi with Nigri, Sashimi and Sushi Combo specials. They also have an extensive wine list with wines from around the world and a wine manager to assist you. Prominently displayed throughout the Moulin Foo restaurant was a 2012 Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor. True this dining establishment is not a good choice if your wallet is light...our check was $126 for two persons with only one glass of wine. The service was excellent and we are looking forward to a return to this St Maarten restaurant. Check out this virtual tour of Moulin Foo.
