The new Ocean Point (soft opening fall 2014) will serve as a paragon of the personalized, limitless, all-inclusive resort concept. Ultra-luxurious and set in the most spectacular location, the “resort within a resort” sits on the westernmost point of the island, adjacent to the legendary Sonesta Maho Beach Resort & Casino.
INNOVATIVE. A full renovation and refurbishment is taking place and the resort’s conference facilities will be completely renovated, along with Ocean Terrace, the buffet venue and The Point gourmet dining restaurant, upping the food and beverage experience to one that will rival anywhere on the island.
STYLE. Stylish, relaxing environments will combine everything that today’s modern traveler has come to expect. Swim out suites are the sought after accommodations here, as a system of swimming pools will line the entire frontage of the resort so guests can relax and swim from their terraces.
DESIGN. Blending contemporary design and a traditional Caribbean vibe, stylists and architects will create a chic, inviting atmosphere for each of the 129 spacious luxury suit es. Utilizing custom-designed furnishings, carefully thought out lighting and art while effortlessly maintaining the allure of the casual Caribbean. Modena Italy’s porcelain floors play host to furniture made with certified, plantation-farmed wood accented with northern Greek marble, making for one of the most uniquely designed hotels St. Maarten, and the entire Caribbean, has seen.
GOURMET. Azul, the open-air restaurant will be the central meeting place, while dining will expand out around the dramatic azure-blue swimming pool perched on a terrace, which appears to float above the equally azure Caribbean Sea below.
AMENITIES
The three resort pools and private beach are exclusive to Sonesta Ocean Point guests. The Edge Pool, seamlessly blending into the horizon, features comfortable sun beds with cabanas and umbrellas. The Point Pool features a stone deck with beach chairs, umbrellas and cabanas overlooking Maho Beach and the Swim Out Pool, which is connected to the Swim Out Suites, meanders along the frontage of the resort.
Intimate gazebos will pepper the property offering romantic nooks for dining, massages and yoga. A nursery in the rear of the resort will play host to a garden where the resort’s chef will select fresh ingredients for that day’s menu selections, while a dedicated wellness area will offer simple but intuitive massage treatments, yoga and other methods.
Embracing the art of travel through culture + style, Wanderlista curates the world’s best kept secrets for concept stores in hip outposts around the globe. At Ocean Point, the Wanderlista boutique will feature carefully-curated resort wear and accessories offering a unique shopping experience in this duty-free hub. From small, emerging designers, to soon to-be cult brands from the UK, France, Italy, Brazil, Greece, the Middle East and beyond, the ever-changing products will offer both men and women style and substance. An advance online-shopping option will also be a available so guests are able to travel without luggage and have their entire wardrobe waiting for them in their suite.

Ocean Point guests are immediately identified and greeted with warm Caribbean hospitality when they arrive at the main lobby (1). With personal attention, they are escorted to Ocean Point on a golf cart along a pathway of lush gardens and a lily pond. Guests enter through the porte-cochère (2) into Ocean Point and Martin’s Bar, the contemporary lobby cafe and bar (3) where they swiftly check-in to one of the 129 spacious luxury suites (4).
Upon settling into their suite, guests head to Azul, the strikingly designed open-air restaurant (5) offering a full à la carte menu of modern Mediterranean cuisine and views expanding out around the dramatic azure-blue Edge swimming pool (6) perched on a terrace with a sandy cliffside beach below.
Although outside pathways lead to the Point, an adult-only swimming pool (7) with stone deck, it will only be offered to Ocean Point guests as they will have electronic keycard access.
Swim Out Suites have access to the Swim Out Pool (8) which meanders along the frontage of the resort. The Sunset Lounge & Bar (9) offers sweeping 360-degree views of the ocean, property, and sunset while socializing with specialty cocktails in hand. With outside access points for both Ocean Point and Sky Tower guests; Ocean Terrace market-style buffet restaurant (10) is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the à la carte Point restaurant is also on offer for a chic gourmet experience.
